Roadtrip to thomasville

Hey all!

I know, it’s been forever since my last post but I’m still getting used to balancing school with this newfound blogging adventure. This weekend, my boyfriend and I decided to take a little road trip for a fun Valentine’s Day getaway. After living in Tallahassee for a year and a half, I finally got to take my first trip to Thomasville, Georgia. If you’ve never been, it’s absolutely just the cutest little town about an hour north of Tallahassee. So, just a skip and a hop across the border and there we were amidst the rows of historic buildings that house quaint little shops and cafés, split down the middle by brick streets, and each with something unique to offer. We wandered up and down the sidewalks, stopping inside the boutiques and galleries that caught our attention. Most of the shops featured goods that were hand-crafted locally and one-of-a-kind.

Thomasville was founded in 1826 and every building is adorned with a special little plaque stating what kind of business was inside in the year that it was established. I was so captured by all of the architecture and there were so many little details that you might miss if you weren’t paying attention.

One of my favorite spots we came across was this Sweet Grass Cheese Shop! It’s a restaurant as well as a shop where you can pick up some delicious fine wines and cheeses. They had everything from cheese and crackers to honey and jam, and a large assortment of the goods were handcrafted locally. They even had a wine and cheese tasting event going on that day. The atmosphere inside was simply adorable! I left with some fresh gouda, snow white cheddar, garlic and chive cheese spread, and artisan crackers, all of which were *ah-mazing*.

On our last stop of the day, we picked up some delicious cupcakes from the famous Small Cakes Cupcakery. Michael got red velvet and I got peanut butter cup which was SO GOOD you guys, it was to die for. We ended our pleasant day with yummy Panera for dinner (most of the cafés and restaurants were closed or really busy at this point) and our scrumptious cupcakes for dessert.

If you live in the surrounding area in Florida or Georgia, I would most definitely add Thomasville to your list of must-visit places. Its historical value and local artistry make it incredibly charming and totally unique! I know I’ll definitely be going back again and hopefully I’ll get to try out some of the adorable restaurants and coffee shops next time!

Thanks for reading!
